Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have:
- Passed the final MBBS examination (written and practical) from a recognized university.
- Candidates appearing in the final MBBS exam are also eligible to apply, but they must produce proof of passing before the final selection stage.
Age Limit
- Maximum age: 32 years as on 1 August 2026
- For Medical Officers in Central Health Service: 35 years
Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per government rules.
Application Fee
- General / OBC / EWS candidates: ₹200
- SC / ST / Female / PwBD candidates: Exempted from fee

Selection Process
The selection process consists of two stages:
1. Written Examination (500 Marks)
The written exam includes two papers:
Paper 1
- General Medicine
- Paediatrics
Paper 2
- Surgery
- Gynaecology & Obstetrics
- Preventive & Social Medicine
Each paper carries 250 marks and is objective type.
2. Personality Test / Interview (100 Marks)
Candidates who qualify in the written examination will be called for the UPSC Personality Test.
Final selection will be based on the combined marks of the written exam and interview.
